Fulkrum takes on Vår Energi’s subsea inspection on the Norwegian Continental Shelf

Quality assurance specialist Fulkrum has signed a subsea inspection services contract with hydrocarbons company Vår Energi. This award covers several key activities within the project portfolio the independent operator maintains on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. In doing so, the service provider consolidates its technical presence in one of the most demanding offshore markets in the global energy sector.

Technical aspects of offshore subsea inspection

Operational work is focused on three subsea developments strategically located in the Gjøa area: Ophelia, Gjøa Nord and Cerisa. The assigned tasks include oversight, technical verification and comprehensive testing of critical equipment. These assessments are carried out both at offshore facilities at sea and at specialized test centers located onshore.

To ensure maximum industrial safety, the contractor’s involvement spans from the procurement of mechanical components through the fields’ operational phase. Deployed technical specialists conduct risk analyses, hazard identification and regulatory compliance inspections. The team also oversees strict adherence to current environmental and legal regulations in Norwegian waters.

The inspection firm’s executives noted that the project assignment strengthens its commercial positioning in the region. The ability to deploy highly trained inspectors globally ensures an agile response to offshore industry requirements. While the agreement’s financial value and duration remain confidential, technical activities are already fully operational.

Vår Energi stands out as one of the leading independent operators on the Scandinavian offshore shelf, with active stakes in nearly half of the area’s producing fields. Through this oversight agreement, the oil company reinforces its standards for operational continuity and asset integrity. In this way, the supply chain is strengthened for key projects supplying natural gas to the European continent.
