Through a strategic award, Hornbeck Offshore Services announced the signing of a multi-year contract for the execution of decommissioning services in the North Sea. The operation, managed by its subsidiary Helix Well Ops, will formally commence during the second quarter of 2027. This agreement includes a firm two-year period with extension options at the discretion of the operating company.

Subsea Operations and the Decommissioning Contract

Regarding the assigned naval assets, well plugging and abandonment activities will utilize the specialized vessels Well Enhancer or Seawell. Both units feature technical specifications designed for seabed interventions without the need for a traditional riser.

This operational plan includes the use of a subsea intervention lubricator well access system, remotely operated vehicles, saturation diving equipment, and engineering services. Additionally, the company will manage the project comprehensively under a unified contractual scheme.

According to executive management, this project will consolidate the marine services offering without the need for traditional drilling platforms. Todd M. Hornbeck, the firm’s President and CEO, highlighted that the contract supports their previous track record in providing safe solutions within the North Sea region.

Finally, the company kept the financial details of the transaction and the identity of the contracting firm confidential. However, the commitment ensures a sustained presence of specialized assets in the European energy market for the coming years.
