Energy services firm Wood has been awarded a commercial extension valued at $200 million with ExxonMobil PNG to operate on the PNG LNG project. Additionally, the agreement establishes a five-year framework focused on the maintenance and optimization of existing facilities (brownfield). Consequently, the work will encompass the gas conditioning plant in Hides, the liquefied natural gas facility in Caution Bay, and over 700 kilometers of associated pipeline network.
Scope of Services Between Wood and ExxonMobil PNG
Specialized teams will execute activities on the wellhead platforms and associated flowlines. Likewise, the assigned personnel will participate in civil and structural construction, mechanical piping work, and electrical and instrumentation systems. Finally, the contract integrates complementary services for scaffolding, lifting operations, and industrial assembly.
Furthermore, the execution of these activities will involve more than 200 company professionals deployed in Papua New Guinea. In this way, technical personnel will manage the operational integrity of the infrastructure that supplies processed natural gas to major buyers in the Asian market. Similarly, the continuity of this work ensures the technical stability of shared energy assets.
In this regard, Steve Nicol, Wood’s Chief Operating Officer, noted that the organization has supported the operational safety of ExxonMobil PNG for over a decade. Therefore, the provision of these construction services will continue to strengthen the reliability of strategic facilities. Lastly, the relationship between both corporations has been maintained since 2013, covering engineering, procurement, construction, and operations support projects.
