Our policy regarding errors

Inspenet strives to correct any factual, technical, or attribution errors published in its content promptly and transparently. Correcting errors is not a sign of editorial weakness, but rather a demonstration of Inspenet’s commitment to accuracy and the trust of its audience.

This policy describes how Inspenet receives error reports, how it evaluates them, what types of corrections it applies, and how it documents them. Please also refer to our Editorial Policy and our Editorial Ethics Policy to learn about the principles that guide our reporting practices.

Inspenet strives to maintain editorial transparency regarding the corrections it makes, except in situations involving legal obligations, privacy, security, third-party rights, the protection of sources, or significant reputational risks.

Response time

Inspenet strives to acknowledge receipt of and review requests for corrections within a reasonable timeframe, depending on the complexity of the case, the availability of information, and editorial urgency.

Types of corrections

Corrections may be made through partial updates, clarifying notes, editorial changes, or the removal of content when necessary. Inspenet applies the following types of corrections depending on the nature of the error:

  • Minor correction: Typos, formatting errors, or data errors with no technical impact. These are corrected directly with a discreet note.
  • Significant correction: factual, technical, or attribution errors that affect the understanding of the content. These are documented with a visible note in the article indicating what was corrected and when.
  • Editorial update: when the information was accurate at the time of publication but has since become outdated due to regulatory, technological, or market changes. The update and its date are indicated.
  • Retraction: exceptional cases where the error invalidates the entire content. See the relevant section below.

To learn about the fact-checking criteria that underpin our corrections, please see our Fact-Checking Policy.

The final decision

The final decision regarding modifications, clarifications, updates, or editorial withdrawals rests solely with the Inspenet editorial team.

Complete retraction

In exceptional cases, Inspenet may issue a full retraction. This occurs when:

  • The error invalidates the central premise or conclusion of the content.
  • The content includes fabricated, plagiarized, or seriously inaccurate information.
  • A key source retracts or refutes the underlying information.

Where appropriate, content may be replaced with an explanatory editorial note or access to it may be restricted for legal, technical, or editorial reasons. Distribution platforms are notified whenever possible.

Marking corrections in the article

Any significant correction is documented in the article, including the date of the correction, a description of what was corrected and how, and a comparison of the original and corrected versions where applicable.

Revision history

Inspenet keeps an internal record of all corrections. Readers can view the editorial history of any article through the correction note displayed in the corresponding article.

Right to update content

Inspenet reserves the right to update, modify, reorganize, or remove editorial content when necessary for editorial, technical, legal, strategic, or third-party protection reasons.

External summaries and reinterpretations

Automated summaries, excerpts generated by third parties, or reinterpretations using external artificial intelligence tools may not fully reflect the original context published by Inspenet.

All published information is subject to reasonable editorial review based on available resources, sources, and context.

Inspenet upholds editorial standards designed to promote accuracy, transparency, accountability, and trust in technical, industrial, and energy-related content, while recognizing the dynamic nature of information, technology, sources, and industry developments.
