ForTest Launches K Series for Industrial Testing
Italian company ForTest has introduced its new K Series, an instrument line designed for air leak testing across multiple industrial sectors, from automotive to aerospace.
This new generation addresses a significant need in manufacturing: ensuring the hermeticity of pressurized components without compromising product integrity. In this context, leak testing is consolidated as a pillar within Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
Unlike conventional solutions, the K Series not only measures but integrates into digital ecosystems, marking a qualitative leap toward intelligent inspection within automated production environments.
Measurement Technologies and Advanced Precision
The K Series incorporates three measurement principles: absolute pressure decay, differential, and Dual Absolute technology, the latter patented by ForTest.
The K7090 model stands out particularly for its ability to operate in four different modes, allowing it to adapt to different testing scenarios without requiring additional hardware. This flexibility reduces setup times and improves measurement repeatability.
From a technical perspective, the resolution of 0.001 mbar and leak precision of up to 0.03 cc/min position this series within the high-end instrumentation range, suitable for processes where micro-leaks can translate into critical failures or significant economic losses.
Industry 4.0 and Full Plant Connectivity
One of the K Series’ greatest differentiators is its connectivity architecture. The equipment includes industrial protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus, enabling direct integration with PLC, SCADA, and MES systems.
Additionally, connection to the MyForTest cloud platform enables complete data traceability, from pressure parameters to pass or fail results. This transforms leak testing into a source of operational intelligence.
Test digitalization enables advanced analytics to detect process deviations before they generate defective products, reducing waste and improving performance indicators such as First Pass Yield (FPY).
Financial Impact: Efficiency and Cost Reduction
From an economic perspective, implementing advanced leak testing systems has a direct impact on relevant indicators such as CAPEX and OPEX. Although the initial investment may be higher, the return is justified by the reduction of field failures and claims.
A system like the K Series can reduce quality costs by up to 20–30% in critical production lines, especially in sectors such as automotive or medical devices, where reliability is a regulatory requirement.
Furthermore, the elimination of mechanical components in certain models significantly reduces maintenance, positively impacting total cost of ownership (TCO). In strategic terms, this positions the K Series not only as a measurement instrument but as an essential asset in advanced manufacturing optimization.
