Through the launch of the AMS 6500 ATG 5.0 and AMS Machine Works 2.4 versions, Emerson has implemented a digital architecture for the constant supervision of turbomachinery. The new technology enables the uninterrupted transfer of operational information from protection modules to the analytical diagnostic platform, overcoming the traditional restriction that limited data collection to intervals of a few minutes.
Continuous Data Transmission in Turbomachinery Processes
The startup and shutdown stages of heavy machinery demand prolonged observation periods that can extend for several hours. Consequently, the continuous flow of parameters facilitates the monitoring of dynamic variables throughout the entire operating cycle, contributing to the detection of anomalies in the equipment’s natural frequency to adjust speed limits in a timely manner.
For its part, the AMS 6500 ATG system integrates a programmable control panel via a web server with capacity for five visualization tabs. In this way, the interface supports up to 25 graphic elements per section, such as trends, alarm states, and real-time indicators, facilitating the link between physical readings and the corresponding mechanical units.
Likewise, the update simplifies asset management through connectivity independent of the traditional Modbus protocol. Consequently, the software strengthens the industrial cybersecurity posture in plants without compromising the operational performance of the data network.
Regarding analytical work, the AMS Machine Works platform links operational alarms with real-time information flows. As a result, maintenance personnel evaluate wear trends with greater technical certainty and coordinate preventive interventions to extend the service life of the equipment.
