Well-Safe Solutions secured its first contract as a full-service well operator in the British North Sea, an award that strengthens the expansion of its offshore services and reinforces its presence in energy asset decommissioning projects.

The company will assume full management of well operations for an undisclosed client, including planning, subsurface analysis, engineering design, and execution of the offshore campaign. The scope also includes the supply of a drilling rig, service equipment, and support vessels.

Well-Safe promotes integrated services for offshore wells

With this contract, the company officially incorporates well operation into its service portfolio. The strategy seeks to integrate all stages related to the well life cycle, from initial engineering to offshore abandonment, under a single provider.

Likewise, the company aims to respond to a growing need in the North Sea industry by simplifying operations through integrated contracts that reduce costs, mobilization times, and operational complexity.

The project will be carried out using the Well-Safe Defender semi-submersible platform, specifically designed for operations in intermediate waters and complex subsurface conditions. The unit has a capacity for 110 crew members and will begin operations in June 2026.

Demand for offshore platforms in the North Sea is growing

Well-Safe Solutions’ expansion coincides with a period of high demand for mobile offshore drilling units. Currently, the availability of semi-submersible platforms in the region has decreased considerably due to the increase in decommissioning campaigns and long-term contracts.

In this context, operators are seeking solutions that integrate assets, engineering, and execution within a single contractual framework. This allows them to reduce logistical risks and improve the efficiency of well abandonment campaigns.

Phil Milton, CEO of Well-Safe Solutions, stated that the company had been preparing for some time to assume the role of well operator and highlighted that the award recognizes the technical and operational capabilities developed by the company in offshore projects.

The contract promotes employment and activity in the offshore supply chain.

This award also represents the fourth major contract secured by Well-Safe Solutions this year in the North Sea. The company plans to use specialized contractors and suppliers to support the project’s execution.

According to the company, the campaign’s development will also have a positive impact on the regional supply chain thanks to new subcontracting opportunities and job creation associated with offshore services.

After this campaign ends, the Well-Safe Defender platform will be moved directly to another contract in the North Sea, reinforcing the operational continuity of the company’s fleet.
