Vestas achieved the milestone of 200 V236-15.0 MW marine wind turbines installed after completing a new unit in the Hollandse Kust West Park VI, located in the North Sea. With this development, the cumulative capacity associated with this offshore model amounts to 3 GW.
The 200th turbine was installed at the Ecowende project, a 760 MW offshore wind farm located in Dutch waters. Hollandse Kust West VI will have a total of 52 V236-15.0 MW units and is scheduled to begin operations at the end of 2026.
The V236-15.0 MW expands its presence in offshore wind farms
The offshore deployment of the V236-15.0 MW began in April 2025 with the installation of the first unit in the EnBW He Dreiht wind farm in Germany. The project has 64 wind turbines of this model and its installation was completed in August 2026.
Later, Vestas reached the first 100 turbines installed in June 2026, as work progressed on the Baltic Power wind farm in Poland. The project, developed by Orlen Group and Northland Power, will incorporate 76 V236-15.0 MW turbines.
The installation of the 200th unit thus doubles, in a few months, the number of V236-15.0 MW wind turbines deployed offshore and raises the cumulative capacity of the model to 3 GW.
Hollandse Kust West VI is moving towards commercial operation
The turbine installation campaign at Hollandse Kust West VI began at the end of May, the project supplied electricity to the Dutch grid for the first time in July and continues to progress towards its planned entry into operation by the end of 2026.
The park is located about 53 kilometers off the coast of the Netherlands, near IJmuiden, its 52 V236-15.0 MW turbines will form a total installed capacity of 760 MW.
The project also incorporates measures aimed at studying the interaction between wind turbines and birds. Seven of the turbines supplied by Vestas they have a blade painted red to assess whether greater contrast improves rotor visibility and helps reduce the risk of collisions.
Vestas reinforces the deployment of its 15 MW offshore turbine
The V236-15.0 MW was specifically developed to operate in offshore wind environments, its installation in projects in Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands reflects the commercial expansion of this platform within the European offshore market.
With 200 units installed, Vestas reaches 3 GW of cumulative capacity through this model, Hollandse Kust West VI thus joins a portfolio of projects that includes He Dreiht and Baltic Power among the main European sites where the V236-15.0 MW is being deployed.
