Seadrill it strengthened its offshore drilling activity with new contracts and extensions for three of its units, the agreements cover the drillships West Vela and West Capella and the semi-submersible platform Sevan Louisiana.
In total, the new commitments add approximately $200 million to the company’s contract portfolio. As of August 10, 2026, that portfolio reached approximately $2.9 billion.
Seadrill secures new contract for West Vela in the USA
The biggest contract belongs to West Vela, a drillship Built in 2013, the unit secured a one-year agreement with Talos Energy to operate in the US Gulf
The program will begin in June 2027 and will add approximately $161 million according to Seadrill’s contract portfolio, the figure excludes possible additional services related to the work.
In this way, West Vela concentrates most of the economic value announced by the drilling contractor; the agreement also extends the visibility of the unit’s activity during 2027.
West Capella extends its drilling campaign in Malaysia
West Capella, meanwhile, secured a contract extension with PTTEP in Malaysia, the drilling vessel, built in 2008, will continue working for an estimated period of 75 days.
The extension represents approximately $26 million additional services for the portfolio without considering complementary services.
With this new work period, the West Capella will remain committed until August 2027, likewise, the extension maintains Seadrill’s presence in the Asian offshore drilling market.
Sevan Louisiana extends its operations
The third award corresponds to the semi-submersible platform Sevan Louisiana, the unit added approximately 45 days of work as a direct continuation of its previous program in the US Gulf.
Thanks to this extension, the platform will remain active until August 2026, although the individual economic value of this period was not detailed in the available information, the agreement completes the package of new awards announced by Seadrill.
Seadrill maintains a multi-million dollar contract portfolio
The new allocations come after Seadrill secured several contracts in the Americas and Africa in May 2026, those awards added more than $860 million to your wallet.
The new package puts the focus back on drilling assets offshore of the company and in the continuity of work for its fleet. With contracts in the US Gulf and Malaysia, Seadrill maintains scheduled activity for several of its units until 2027.
