The LNG carrier Al Rekayyat, operated by Qatar Gas Transport Company, known as Nakilat, was struck by a projectile while transiting through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The company confirmed that none of the crew members were injured and that the incident did not generate any environmental impact.

Additionally, Nakilat reported that it maintains direct communication with the vessel and its crew to monitor the situation. The company stated that the safety of personnel, environmental protection, and the integrity of its assets remain its top priorities.

A Maritime Incident on a Critical Route for LNG

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most sensitive maritime routes for global energy trade. Oil tankers, cargo vessels, and liquefied natural gas carriers transit through it, connecting Persian Gulf production with international markets.

In this context, the impact on the Al Rekayyat once again draws attention to maritime security in a key area for LNG transport. Although Nakilat reported no injuries or environmental damage, the episode reinforces vigilance over operational risks in this navigation route.

Nakilat Monitors Vessel and Crew Status

Likewise, the Qatari company indicated that it continues coordinating with the vessel to assess the evolution of the incident. To date, the official information available focuses on the absence of injuries, the lack of environmental impact, and close monitoring of the situation.

Nakilat plays a significant role within Qatar’s liquefied natural gas supply chain. Founded in 2004, it operates one of the world’s largest LNG fleets, with 69 carriers, in addition to a floating storage and regasification unit, two VLGC vessels, and maritime support services at Qatari ports.

Maritime Security and Continuity of Energy Transport

On the other hand, the incident occurs in a highly sensitive scenario for international navigation. Maritime LNG transport depends on stable routes, secure ports, and constant coordination among operators, authorities, and crews.

The Al Rekayyat is part of that logistical infrastructure connecting Qatar’s energy production with global markets. Therefore, any incident in the Strait of Hormuz can generate immediate attention in the maritime, energy, and regional security industries.

No Report of Injuries or Environmental Impact

Finally, Nakilat reiterated that no injuries were recorded among crew members and that the event did not produce environmental consequences. The company maintains monitoring of the vessel while prioritizing the safety of personnel, protection of the marine environment, and the condition of its assets.
