Fulkrum is expanding its operations in Norway’s offshore oil and gas sector after securing an inspection services contract with Vår Energi. The agreement covers work for the operator’s project portfolio on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).
The company currently supports three subsea developments located in the Gjøa area: Ophelia, Gjøa Nord and Cerisa. The work includes inspection and testing of equipment and systems both offshore and at onshore test facilities.
Offshore contract covers three subsea projects in Gjøa
As part of the framework agreement, Fulkrum will provide technical capability to support quality assurance, operational integrity and delivery of Vår Energi’s projects.
Specifically, the activities cover equipment and systems linked to the three subsea developments. The scope allows controls to be applied at different stages associated with offshore infrastructure procurement and operations.
The contract also represents an expansion of Fulkrum’s presence in the Norwegian energy market. The company provides inspection, expediting, auditing and technical staffing services for energy and industrial projects.
Vår Energi, for its part, maintains a broad portfolio of assets on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. According to information released with the contract award, the company holds interests in around half of the assets currently in production on the NCS and has some 1,450 employees.
Safety and quality in offshore operations
In addition to inspection work, Fulkrum’s technical expertise will be aligned with Vår Energi’s safety and compliance objectives.
These activities take place in an environment where hazard identification, risk assessment, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements are part of offshore operations management.
Likewise, the award enables Fulkrum to strengthen its ability to mobilize specialized personnel to subsea projects that require technical controls during the procurement and operational stages.
James Dunsford, Fulkrum’s senior key account manager, said the contract is an important step in expanding the company’s position in Norway’s offshore market. He also highlighted the technical expertise and operational flexibility of the teams dedicated to subsea inspections.
Fulkrum strengthens its activity in the Norwegian market
Work already underway at Ophelia, Gjøa Nord and Cerisa positions Fulkrum directly on three subsea developments within Vår Energi’s portfolio.
The award also extends the British firm’s involvement in complex oil and gas projects where equipment inspection, quality control and operational integrity are key elements for delivery.
Vår Energi, meanwhile, continues to develop its hydrocarbons portfolio in Norwegian waters. The new agreement brings Fulkrum in as a technical services provider within that activity and increases the inspection company’s presence in one of Europe’s leading offshore markets.
