Asyad Shipping christens the Muscat LNG and the Musandam LNG in South Korea

Each vessel has a national investment participation (10%) through an Omani energy fund.

Asyad Shipping held the official christening ceremony for its new LNG carriers, Muscat LNG and Musandam LNG, in South Korea, marking an important step in the expansion of its maritime fleet and its participation in global energy transport.

The event, held at the Hyundai Samho shipyard, highlighted the commissioning of these vessels, designed to operate on international liquefied natural gas routes with high standards of efficiency and safety.

The appointment ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Ambassador Zakariya and attended by senior executives from Asyad Shipping, reinforcing the institutional nature of the event.

Furthermore, the christening of Muscat LNG and Musandam LNG comes at a time when Asyad Shipping is seeking to strengthen its position as one of the key players in the maritime transport of energy between Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

LNG vessels with advanced technology

The new LNG conveyors were built by Hyundai Samho and integrate technological solutions aimed at improving operational performance and environmental performance.

Among its capabilities are systems that optimize fuel efficiency, improve safety during navigation, and allow for more efficient management of transported gas.

Likewise, these characteristics respond to the current demands of the LNG market, where energy efficiency and emissions reduction are key factors for fleet competitiveness.

Oman LNG participates as a strategic partner

As part of the project context, Oman LNG participated in the ceremony and is part of the investment structure associated with the vessels.

The company noted that the initiative includes the participation of the Oman Origin Energy Development Corporation’s Investment Fund with a 10% stake in each vessel, which contributes to strengthening the country’s sustainable investment portfolio.

Furthermore, this collaboration supports the development of energy supply chains and maritime logistics, aligning with the national strategy to consolidate Oman as a competitive hub for energy and transport.
