Sherwin-Williams lanzó recubrimiento para mantenimiento y reparación en alta mar

Sherwin-Williamsa recognized international manufacturer of paints and coatings, has launched the innovative Repacor™ SW-1000. This 100% solids by volume coating is designed for safe, fast and economical maintenance of steel structures.

The result of a three-year research project, Repacor™ SW-1000 seeks to facilitate offshore maintenance and repair work, specifically on steel structures of offshore wind turbineswith special emphasis on the safety of the applicators. Unlike traditional methods that require two to three coats of coating, Repacor™ SW-1000 needs only one coat, which can be applied simply with an application gun, with no mixing required, notes Claus Ackfeld, product manager at Sherwin-Williams.

Innovative solution from Sherwin-Williams

This one-coat solution incorporates all the necessary properties of anticorrosive coatings and durable finishes, achieving a dry film thickness of 500 microns. It is designed to emulate the original performance of offshore wind coating systems and offers a cure time of approximately four hours, faster than alternative aerosol systems.

The unique cartridge application method allows the applicator to work quickly and compactly, minimizing packaging waste.

In addition, Repacor SW-1000 complies with NORSOK M-501 standards, which establish offshore industry regulations for the selection of coating materials, surface preparation, application procedures and inspection of protective coatings, ensuring the highest level of corrosion protection. It is also completely free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances (CMR), highlighting its safety and environmental benefits.

Sherwin-Williams’ introduction of Repacor SW-1000 not only marks a significant breakthrough in wind turbine maintenance and repair, but also underscores the growing importance of sustainable and safe solutions in the industry. With the increasing demand for renewable energy sources such as wind power, the development of innovative coatings is crucial to improve the longevity and efficiency of these structures.

Likewise, Repacor SW-1000’s ability to deliver high performance with minimal environmental impact reflects a broader industry trend toward sustainability and could inspire further innovations in protective coating technologies.
