First LNG powered container ship in Japan!
Shipping company CMA CGM announced that Japan has received its first container ship powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas), marking a milestone by berthing at the Port of Yokohama for the first time.
This was achieved with the arrival of the CMA CGM Liberty , a ship that also achieved this achievement in various ports in the Americas, such as Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador.
In this context, the French company mentioned that the CMA CGM Liberty has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first LNG-powered container ship to dock at a Japanese port, specifically the Port of Yokohama. This first visit symbolizes CMA CGM’s commitment to Japan’s energy transition.
The CMA CGM Liberty is a vessel that has a length of 366 meters, a width of 51 meters and has the capacity to transport 14,812 TEU. It was built in 2022, is registered under the Maltese flag and operates on the AXA service connecting China, South Korea, Japan and Mexico.
