The Norwegian Directorate of Marine Resources granted Vår Energi ASA the drilling permit for well 35/6-7 S, located in production licence 929, continuing hydrocarbon exploration activities on Norway’s continental shelf.

Authorization to move forward with the exploration campaign

The permit was issued pursuant to Section 13 of the Resource Management Regulations, the regulatory framework governing the authorization of drilling operations in Norwegian waters.

With this approval, Vår Energi will be able to proceed with drilling the exploration well, an activity aimed at assessing the resource potential within production licence 929.

The authorization is part of the regulatory process prior to the start of offshore operations and represents a necessary step before the drilling campaign begins.

According to the available information, the well is located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, one of the country’s most active areas for oil and gas exploration and production.

Exploration to expand subsurface knowledge

Exploratory drilling makes it possible to gather geological and technical information to determine the presence of commercially recoverable hydrocarbons. These results help shape future decisions on energy resource development and the planning of new investments.

Likewise, the approval granted to Vår Energi reflects the continuity of exploration activity on the Norwegian continental shelf, where the authorities maintain a regulatory process aimed at ensuring operations are carried out in accordance with current regulations.
