TGS, a leading global provider of energy data and intelligence, is pleased to announce the award of an OBN contract in the Norwegian North Sea.
The company reported that mobilization will begin in June and the project will last approximately 25 days.
TGS indicated that the project will help the client optimize oil and gas production operations through advanced geophysical information and subsurface analysis.
TGS to Execute OBN Campaign with ROV-Based Technology
The contract will be developed using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)-based acquisition solution, which will allow offshore seismic operations to be executed in parallel with other active campaigns in Norway.
Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS, noted that the company is already developing recruitment campaigns for its seismic node team.
“We are extremely pleased to have secured additional offshore OBN work in Norway for the 2026 summer season,” Johansen stated.
The executive highlighted that TGS’s experience in project execution and delivery of high-quality seismic data were key factors in securing the award.
Technology Continues to Gain Offshore Relevance
Ocean Bottom Nodes technology is widely used in offshore exploration and monitoring due to its ability to generate high-resolution seismic images in complex environments.
OBN systems allow sensors to be placed directly on the seabed, improving the quality of data obtained compared to conventional seismic methods.

The Norwegian North Sea sector continues to be one of the main offshore markets for seismic services and advanced exploration technologies.
