Subsea7 secures contract of up to $150 million for Who Dat East

Subsea7 will construct subsea infrastructure to connect Who Dat East to the Who Dat production system in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Subsea7 was awarded a contract by LLOG Exploration Company LLC, a subsidiary of Harbour Energy, to participate in the development of Who Dat East in the United States. The company classifies the agreement as large-scale, a category that includes contracts valued between 50 and 150 million dollars the project is located in block MC 509-1 of the Gulf of Mexico, where the water depth is around 1,300 meters the awarded work will focus on developing the underwater infrastructure that will allow the new well to be connected to Who Dat’s existing facilities.

Subsea7 will install 29 kilometers of underwater infrastructure

As part of the contract, Subsea7 will manufacture, transport and install a steel catenary riser pipe and a 29-kilometer pipe-in-pipe system which will be connected to the Who Dat floating production system. The work also includes the installation of umbilicals and underwater controls, necessary to integrate the well with the production system and allow its operation from the existing infrastructure.

Project management and engineering activities will begin immediately from Subsea7’s facilities in Houston, Texas, offshore campaign, for its part, is scheduled to 2028 with this award, Subsea7 expands its participation in deepwater oil and gas projects in the United States and continues its working relationship with LLOG Exploration.

Dat East will produce oil and gas from 2028

Who Dat East envisions the development of a single well, the plan involves completing the discovery well drilled in 2024 and connect it, via a 29-kilometer pipeline, to the Who Dat floating production system. Incorporating the new well will also require installing subsea controls and making minor modifications to the existing production facilities in the area.

The first production of Who Dat East it is scheduled for the second half of 2028, initial estimates place gross production at around 6,500 barrels of liquids per day and 50 million standard cubic feet per day of gas by connecting with Who Dat, the project will be able to take advantage of the existing infrastructure in the area, avoiding the need to develop a separate production facility for the new well.

Development is progressing after the leak recorded in Who Dat

The development of Who Dat East continues as the asset partners manage the actions stemming from a small leak detected in a Who Dat riser pipe in February 2026, the joint venture comprising INTEREST, Karoon y Westlawn LLOG has continued working on a structured remediation plan. LLOG operates the asset and holds a 40 % stake, Karoon holds another 40 %, and Westlawn owns the remaining 20 %, the removal and subsequent analysis of the affected riser was planned to begin in the third quarter of 2026. While these activities were underway, plans for Who Dat East continued to progress.

Subsea7 strengthens its relationship with LLOG Exploration

For Subsea7, the new contract also represents the continuation of its commercial relationship with LLOG within the US deepwater market, Craig Broussard the senior vice president of Subsea7 US highlighted the relationship both companies have built and their interest in continuing to generate value through the developments they are carrying out in the United States. With engineering activities already underway and the offshore campaign scheduled for 2028, the next step will be to advance the manufacturing and installation of the subsea systems that will allow for the incorporation of Who Dat East to the existing production infrastructure.
