Qatar consolidates strategic alliance with Messer for the global supply of ultrapure helium

QatarEnergy has signed a long-term supply contract with the German company Messer, which specializes in industrial gases, to supply 100 million cubic feet per year of ultrapure helium. The agreement is being finalized from the state-of-the-art Ras Laffan facility, reaffirming Qatar’s position as one of the largest global exporters of this strategic resource.

Global demand for ultrapure helium drives deal

The signing of the contract marks the first direct collaboration between the two entities. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, together with Messer’s global CEO, Bernd Eulitz, at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha.

The Qatari energy company emphasizes that this agreement strengthens its global distribution network, aiming at the sustained growth of the heliogas market. For its part, Messer reinforces its portfolio of reliable supply in a context where the demand for ultrapure helium is ultrapure helium is growing due to the rise of technologies such as quantum computing, magnetic resonance imaging, semiconductor manufacturing and space exploration.
