Petrobras has officially selected Honeywell’s Ethanol-to-Jet technology to convert the REPLAN refinery in São Paulo, driving ethanol in Latin American aviation.
Ethanol from REPLAN Refinery as a Cornerstone for Renewable Aviation
The use of ethanol as feedstock is the most logical route for Brazil given its enormous agricultural capacity. Honeywell’s technology enables this renewable resource to be economically viable for scaling SAF production in an accelerated manner.
In this way, this energy project enables airlines to reduce their carbon emissions by leveraging agricultural by-products that are abundantly available.
The REPLAN plant proposes a feedstock change and, at the same time, an integration of advanced automation systems. Honeywell’s technical expertise in refining processes ensures that the conversion of alcohol into fuel meets the most stringent international standards.
Likewise, the strong relationship between both companies ensures that the deployment of these energy technologies is efficient and contributes directly to the continent’s climate goals.
