Noble Corporation secured a new contract with ORLEN Upstream Norway to use the Noble Intrepid jack-up platform in an exploration well off the coast of Norway.
ORLEN hires the Noble Intrepid for block PL1135
The Noble Intrepid platform added a new job on the Norwegian continental shelf after an agreement between Noble Corporation and ORLEN Upstream Norge. The contract includes the drilling of a single exploration well on license PL1135.
According to the planned schedule, the campaign will last approximately between 40 and 60 days the start of operations is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
The contract adds a new offshore drilling campaign to Noble’s portfolio in Northern European waters, the operation will also allow ORLEN to advance its exploration activities on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Noble Intrepid is prepared for extreme conditions
The Noble Intrepid is a self-elevating platform built in 2014 under the design Gusto MSC CJ70 X150 MD its configuration allows drilling work to be carried out in demanding marine environments.
The unit can operate in water depths of up to 492 pies equivalent to about 150 meters, it also has the capacity to drill wells up to 40.000 pies, about 12,200 meters.
Furthermore, the platform offers hosting for 150 people a feature that facilitates extended drilling campaigns and associated onboard operations.
These specifications place the Noble Intrepid within the segment of jack-up platforms designed to work in harsh environmental conditions, a relevant factor for fishing campaigns offshore drilling in the North Sea and Norwegian waters.
The platform maintains activity prior to the contract with ORLEN
Before the planned campaign for ORLEN, the Noble Intrepid has jobs related to BP in the United Kingdom that contractual period extends from April 2026 to September 2027 with a stated daily rate of $150,000. In this way, the new well expands the platform’s work visibility once its previous commitments have been completed.
The contract also comes as Noble anticipates increased activity in the international offshore drilling market. The company has also made progress in upgrading other units in its fleet with new technology as it seeks to capitalize on a potential surge in demand for drilling rigs.
