Burckhardt Compression has secured strategic contracts to equip LNG terminals in Thailand and Taiwan, consolidating its position as the preferred partner for gas management in critical environments.

Laby compressor technology and operational capacity

The award involves a total of eight Laby compression units specifically intended for boil-off gas treatment (BOG) and one additional unit for minimum send-out services. These tools are fundamental because liquefied natural gas terminals require total operational flexibility to deal with variations in international supply and demand.

The selected equipment stands out for an oil-free design that guarantees total gas-tightness. This configuration allows for virtually zero emissions, which is vital in the transition toward cleaner energy.

Furthermore, the lack of contact between the internal components of these systems ensures much longer maintenance intervals, optimizing life-cycle costs at the Map Ta Phut and Taichung terminals.

Andreas Brautsch, President of the company’s Systems Division, stated that these orders reflect a constant need for reliable infrastructure in the Asian market. By integrating these solutions, the terminals ensure a stable supply and raise their operational safety standards in the handling of fuels at cryogenic temperatures.
