Siemens Gamesa has achieved a milestone in the renewable energy industry with the installation of the world’s most powerful wind turbine . The SG DD-276 model, with a capacity of 21.5 MW and a rotor diameter of 276 meters, is located at the Østerild test center in Denmark.

The project, known as HIPPOW (Highly Innovative Prototype of the Most Powerful Offshore Wind), has been partly funded by the European Union, which has allocated €30 million to support testing and development of the prototype . The turbine is expected to generate enough electricity for 70,000 Danish homes and reduce CO₂ emissions by 55,454 tonnes over its lifetime, a significant achievement in the fight against climate change .
Despite the company’s leadership, international competition, especially from Chinese companies such as Mingyang Smart Energy, continues to increase with turbines of up to 20 MW, although Siemens Gamesa currently holds the title of the most powerful installed turbine in the world.
