The Chinese manufacturer FAW and the oil company Shell have collaborated on an innovative project that has resulted in the creation of a hybrid truck designed for long journeys, marking a milestone in reducing emissions and improving efficiency in road transport.
Learn about the characteristics of the new hybrid truck
The truck’s cabin features an elongated design with a notable slope that allows the air deflector and rear trailer spoiler to be adjusted to optimize aerodynamics or increase resistance during descents.
This vehicle features an aerodynamic package that is considered industry leading, with an average wind resistance coefficient of 0.5-0.6 Cd, although it can reach an impressive 0.24 in ideal conditions, putting it on par with most aerodynamic cars available on the market.
It also includes a wide range of technology offering features such as an intelligent cruise control system, a 360° panoramic view and an advanced energy management system. Additionally, it has the option to be equipped with Level 2 driver assistance systems, making daily and repetitive trips easier.
To ensure a high level of efficiency, carbon fiber and fiberglass have been used in the construction of the cabin and a solar panel system with a maximum capacity of 5 kW has been installed. It is claimed that this system can generate a significant amount of energy for the traction battery.
From a mechanical point of view, this truck is powered by an 11-liter diesel engine with a power of 270 kW, which works in conjunction with an electrical system that incorporates a 30 kWh battery.
This model is in the final stages of development and is scheduled to begin road testing during the second quarter of next year.
