Within the framework of WindEurope, ACCIONA Energía has presented pioneering initiatives that reinforce its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the renewable energy sector. In this context, the collaboration with the fashion brand El Ganso stands out, resulting in a line of sneakers incorporating recycled materials from wind turbine blades in their soles .
This partnership builds on the success of the limited edition launched in 2023 , combining fashion and wind component recycling.
In addition, the company has developed surfboards using materials from dismantled blades from the Waubra wind farm in Australia. These prototypes demonstrate the versatility of recycled materials and their potential in the manufacture of high-performance sports products, promoting the reuse of wind components in various sectors.
ACCIONA Energy’s plans
ACCIONA Energy is also making progress on the construction of Waste2Fiber , a recycling plant located in Lumbier, Navarra, with the capacity to process up to 6,000 tons of blade material per year. This facility will use proprietary heat treatment technology to transform composite materials into high-value secondary raw materials for industries such as the automotive and construction industries.
These initiatives reflect ACCIONA Energy’s commitment to the circular economy , transforming challenges into opportunities and leading the way toward a more sustainable future in the field of renewable energy.
