The Swedish transport operator VR Sverige AB has formalized the addition of 81 Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses to its urban fleet. This decision strengthens Stockholm’s public mobility system toward emission-free solutions.
Solaris’ new electric buses in Stockholm
With this delivery, Solaris Bus & Coach expands its collaboration with Sweden, one of the countries that has integrated more than 600 units of the brand. The manufacturer, owned by the Spanish group CAF, continues to position itself as a European leader in sustainable transport technologies.
The new electric vehicles will operate on high-demand routes and will also optimize the energy consumption of the urban transportation system. Charging and maintenance infrastructure will be provided by the local network, in line with the country’s environmental commitments.
The Urbino 18 model was recently recognized as the ” Bus of the Year 2025 ” for its operational capacity, energy efficiency, and passenger-comfort-oriented design. Furthermore, its introduction in the Swedish capital represents a significant step in the national strategy toward fully electric mobility.
