RP Global closed a 174 million euro unitranche financing with Eiffel Investment Group to advance the construction of the Wałcz wind farm, a 123.9 MW project located in Wałcz County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northwestern Poland.
The Wałcz wind farm will feature 21 Nordex N149 turbines
The project will feature 21 Nordex N149 turbines and has already entered its construction phase. According to the planned schedule, completion of the wind farm is slated for the fourth quarter of 2027.
Furthermore, this facility will be the sixth wind farm built by RP Global in Poland, a country where the company has accumulated nearly twenty years of activity alongside local and multilateral financial institutions, including the EBRD.
Essential financing for onshore wind energy in Poland
The operation is notable for its size within the Polish onshore wind market, especially since the introduction of the 10H rule. Jorge Rodríguez, CFO of RP Global, noted that the company maintains a commercial strategy for this financing and is evaluating the market for a PPA that would allow for long-term refinancing in a second stage.
For his part, Alexis Sarton, Director at Eiffel Investment Group, indicated that the project contributes to the energy transition and European energy sovereignty through renewable infrastructure assets.
RP Global: Advisors and scope of the operation
Greenberg Traurig acted as legal advisor to RP Global. Eiffel Investment Group received legal advice from Clifford Chance and technical support from Wind Prospect.
Likewise, the financing strengthens RP Global’s renewable portfolio, which is developing solar, wind, and storage projects totaling nearly 14 GW(p) across seven European markets.
