Petrobras once again exceeded its operating forecasts during the second quarter of 2026; the Brazilian oil company produced close to 200,000 barrels of oil per day more than initially estimated in a period also marked by a strong improvement in its financial results.
The CEO of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard the executive highlighted the company’s performance during a conference with investors, stating that exceeding internal goals has become a constant within the company.
Informally, here at the company, we’ve started greeting each other by saying: Targets are for the weak. We pride ourselves on exceeding our targets.

Petrobras increases its production in the second quarter
Meanwhile, production growth was supported by greater operational efficiency and the early completion of contracted projects; these factors allowed Petrobras to position itself around 200,000 barrels per day above their initial estimates during the second quarter.
Among the projects mentioned are the floating production, storage and offloading units P-78 y P-79, linked to the field of Búzios, an operation located in the Brazilian pre-salt.
Thus, the performance of these facilities is part of an operational strategy that is enabling Petrobras to increase its oil and natural gas production while accelerating contracted capacity.
Búzios and the FPSOs promote operational performance
Furthermore, the contribution of the FPSO P-78 and P-79 reinforces the importance of Búzios within Petrobras’ operations; the floating units allow for the integration of production, storage, and offloading of hydrocarbons in offshore projects.
The combination of these projects with efficiency improvements helped the company exceed its forecasts for the period. According to Chambriard, operational management is precisely one of the elements that sets Petrobras apart.
Our operational management is what sets us apart. I guarantee that we always strive to exceed our goals.

Petrobras reports solid financial results
Meanwhile, the increase in production coincided with a favorable second quarter for accounts, the company recorded a solid net profit and practically doubled its earnings in a context of record oil and natural gas production.
Chambriard also indicated that Petrobras achieved its highest possible percentage during the quarter higher recurring quarterly net income denominated in US dollars to date.
In this way, the results extended the performance observed during the first months of 2026. The company had already registered several records during the first quarter and subsequently managed to surpass some of those records between April and June.
Furthermore, the growth above forecasts reinforces the importance of operational efficiency and the early incorporation of production capacity within Petrobras’ results in 2026.
