OX2 strengthens its presence in Italy with two more 200 MW/800 MWh BESS plants

The Swedish company OX2 reinforced its growth strategy in the Italian market after acquiring Hanwha Energy Europe a portfolio consisting of two independent projects of battery energy storage systems (BESS), with a combined capacity of 200 MW and 800 MWh the facilities will be located in the province of Lecce, within the Apulia region, in southern Italy.

Construction planned for 2027

According to information released by both companies, each project will have a capacity of 100 MW and 400 MWh the schedule anticipates the start of construction during the second quarter of 2027, while commercial operation is planned for the end of 2028.
