Nordex promotes wind energy in Germany with orders for 255 MW

Nordex will expand its wind power capacity in Germany through 14 projects totaling 255 MW and 39 wind turbines.
Nordex anuncia nuevos pedidos eólicos por 255 MW en Alemania.

The Nordex Group continues to expand its presence in the German wind energy market after securing new orders for approximately 255 MW during the first two months of the second quarter of 2026. The contracts cover 14 wind energy projects and include the supply of 39 turbines destined for different sites across the country.

Specifically, customers ordered 19 N163/6.X wind turbines, eleven N175/6.X units, and nine N149 turbines. All agreements include long-term service and maintenance contracts to ensure stable and efficient operation throughout the assets’ lifespan.

A community project stands out among the new contracts

Among the awarded orders, the Rheine-Catenhorn community wind farm, located in North Rhine-Westphalia, stands out. For this project, Nordex will supply and install five N163/6.X turbines with a hub height of 164 meters and a total capacity of 35 MW.

The project will be carried out in collaboration with BBWind and represents a demonstration of the growing prominence of local participation models within the German wind energy sector.

These schemes allow municipalities and residents to participate directly in the economic benefits generated by renewable energy installations. At the same time, they facilitate greater public acceptance of the projects and help accelerate the expansion of wind energy in the region.

Local participation is gaining importance in the energy transition

Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President of the Central Region of the Nordex Group, highlighted the importance of this type of initiative for the country’s energy development.

As he explained, community wind farms combine economic advantages for local populations with greater citizen involvement in the energy transition process, creating a more favorable environment for the deployment of new renewable capacity.

For his part, Michael Schlüß, CEO of BBWind, noted that Nordex has strengthened its position as one of the most important technology partners within the network of manufacturers with which the company specializing in community wind projects works.

Strengthened collaboration in North Rhine-Westphalia

The relationship between Nordex and BBWind dates back to 2014. Since then, both organizations have connected 26 turbines belonging to the Delta and Delta4000 series to the grid, which add up to more than 100 MW of installed capacity in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Likewise, during the last few months Nordex received additional orders from BBWind for 78 MW intended exclusively for community projects in the same region, reflecting the continuation of a collaboration that continues to gain relevance within the German market.

Construction planned between 2027 and 2028

Although the company did not reveal the identity of the other clients or the location of the remaining wind farms included in the contracts, it confirmed that the construction and commissioning of all projects is scheduled between the summer of 2027 and the spring of 2028.

With over 64 GW installed in more than 40 markets since 1985, Nordex maintains a strong presence in the global wind energy industry. The company closed 2025 with consolidated sales of nearly €7.6 billion and a workforce of over 11,100 employees, supported by manufacturing facilities in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
