New Wave Offshore Energy was selected by Shell to provide marine assurance services at the Orca project located in the Santos pre-salt basin off the coast of Brazil. The award strengthens the company’s status within the offshore deepwater oil and gas market.

The contract includes maritime guarantee inspection (MWS) services focused on risk management and safety supervision during different stages of offshore development. The Orca project has an estimated volume of recoverable resources close to 370 million barrels.

Maritime Supervision for Complex Offshore Operations

New Wave Offshore Energy’s operational scope includes vessel inspections, engineering review, and oversight of transportation and installation (TI) operations. These activities seek to ensure that operations comply with the technical and safety conditions established for the project.

In addition, the company will carry out independent assessments to verify compliance with the maritime guarantees agreed by the operators of the development. This type of service is crucial in large-scale offshore projects due to the risks associated with deepwater operations.

Likewise, New Wave Offshore’s participation in Orca expands its portfolio of MWS services for international operators in the energy sector.

Shell promotes the development of the Orca project in Brazil

The Orca project, formerly known as Gato do Mato, is being developed in one of the most important offshore regions in Brazil. Shell currently operates the asset together with Ecopetrol and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA).

The initiative received the final investment decision in 2025 and is part of Shell’s offshore expansion strategy in the Brazilian pre-salt region. According to project estimates, production could reach up to 120,000 barrels per day once operations scheduled for 2029 begin.

In addition to the maritime guarantee services awarded to New Wave Offshore, the project also includes contracts for the supply of submarine pipelines and integrated engineering for offshore infrastructure.

New Wave Offshore strengthens its marine guarantee portfolio

Since 2018, New Wave Offshore Energy has developed specialized maritime assurance and supervision services for offshore energy projects. The company is involved in operations related to FPSO, subsea construction and decommissioning of marine infrastructure.

Kyle Eddings, the company’s founder and CEO, noted that the award confirms the organization’s technical ability and operational discipline to execute complex offshore projects.

With this contract, the company strengthens its image within the global maritime assurance market for offshore oil and gas projects.
