Following the signing of a strategic agreement, contractor Mainprize Offshore has supplied the MO12 and MO14 units. These vessels will operate from the Montrose logistics base to ensure the safe transfer of engineers and specialists. The charter agreement spans five years, covering both the current installation phase and the future maintenance stage of the infrastructure.

Additionally, the twin vessels have a capacity for 24 passengers. The crew responsible for these operations will be locally sourced and will include a captain, an engineer, and a deckhand for each service unit.
The 26-meter long vessels were designed by Walker Marine Design with maximum stability criteria. They also possess a thrust force that reaches 21 tons, allowing for personnel transfers in wave conditions of up to two meters high. This technical capability translates into an increase of 26 additional days of annual operational availability for the project.
Furthermore, the catamaran hull design has been optimized to reduce energy consumption. By integrating a multi-fuel capacity system, these units achieve a reduction in carbon emissions compared to the conventional marine transport fleet.
The construction of these strategic assets was carried out in Singapore by Strategic Marine Group. This renewable energy project, driven by a collaboration between Red Rock Renewables and ESB, involves the installation of 72 turbines to supply a large part of Scotland. The integration of these vessels represents a firm step in consolidating the supply chain necessary for the UK’s energy transition.
