KONGSBERG signed a new contract to supply critical infrastructure protection technologies to an undisclosed international customer. The project will focus primarily on subsea surveillance and the protection of strategic assets.

The company did not disclose the financial value of the agreement. However, the contract confirms the growing demand for systems capable of monitoring, analyzing, and responding to threats against essential facilities.

Subsea surveillance for critical subsea infrastructure

Critical infrastructure includes oil and gas facilities, telecommunications cables, energy networks, ports, and transportation systems. These assets are exposed to physical risks, cyberattacks, sabotage, and natural events that can affect operational continuity.

In addition, the subsea environment has become an area of focus for governments and industries. It is home to communication cables, offshore infrastructure, and energy systems that require constant oversight.

Systems to detect threats in real time

KONGSBERG stated that its solutions will support inspection, surveillance, monitoring, response, and situational awareness tasks. Likewise, the systems will provide data and analysis for critical real-time decisions.

Eirik Lie, President and CEO of KONGSBERG, noted that preventing and detecting threats is essential to protect people and critical infrastructure. He also emphasized that the company can support countries and industries in building resilient systems.

Integrated protection across air and subsea domains

The project also includes large-scale deployment capabilities in subsea and aerial environments. This integration expands operational coverage and improves response to incidents that may compromise high-value assets.

Camilla Kiss, President of Discovery, a division of KONGSBERG, explained that the company’s technology facilitates access to data and analysis for time-sensitive decisions. She also stated that the contract reflects a market transition: from recognizing the need for protection to implementing concrete solutions.

A market driven by infrastructure security

The new agreement positions KONGSBERG within an expanding market, marked by increased investment in maritime security, underwater surveillance, and the protection of strategic infrastructure.

Moreover, the growing reliance on energy networks, ports, subsea cables, and transportation systems makes the protection of critical infrastructure a technical and operational priority for governments and industries.
