The firms CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping have celebrated the official christening of the vessel CY Frontier. The ceremony represents a key advancement for the operational capacity of the joint fleet, aimed at meeting the growing demands of the energy industry, heavy marine transport, and offshore projects.

During the formal event, godmother Jenny Jung officiated the christening of the naval structure. The gathering featured the direct participation of representatives from CY Shipping, BigLift Shipping, and the Jing Jiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. shipyard. This strategic cooperation between the shipowner, the shipyard, and the project team successfully consolidated the technical development of the vessel.

Specifically, the CY Frontier introduces dimensions that increase offshore logistical performance. The design features a length of 180 meters and a beam of 43 meters, complemented by a completely clear cargo deck spanning 6,020 square meters. Consequently, the vessel has a deadweight capacity of 25,000 metric tons.

Accordingly, module loading and unloading procedures can be executed versatilely via the stern or the side using RoRo systems and skidding techniques. In this regard, the vessel integrates a high-capacity ballast system and advanced tide compensation technologies to optimize complex operations. Furthermore, the structural design offers full compatibility with BigLift Shipping’s existing MC-class vessels, represented by the BigLift Barentsz and the BigLift Baffin, which it surpasses in deck length and stern loading capacity.

Through an institutional statement, Johan Boer, Managing Director of BigLift Shipping, detailed that the BC class embodies the evolution of the heavy transport fleet. The executive noted that the combination of proven capabilities with optimized operational efficiency will facilitate technical support for projects of great logistical complexity worldwide.

Finally, the construction schedule for the three remaining units in the series is progressing according to stipulated technical projections. The delivery of the second vessel, named BigLift Pioneer, is projected for the end of this year. By mid-2028, the operational alliance between CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping plans to manage a unified fleet of eight heavy transport vessels, consolidating its competitive position in the energy and industrial sectors.
