CB&I will continue leading the operation of the Kittiwake field in the UK North Sea after EnQuest extended the contract for its Asset Solutions division to manage the asset until final cessation of production and subsequent platform decommissioning.
The award expands the scope of services the company provides at Kittiwake and strengthens a relationship spanning more than two decades at one of the most representative offshore assets in the UK basin.
CB&I Will Manage Kittiwake Field Until Decommissioning
The extension makes CB&I responsible for supporting the field throughout its entire final operational phase. In addition to maintaining daily asset management, the company will coordinate activities necessary for cessation of production (COP) and facilitate the infrastructure decommissioning process.
Kittiwake functions as a production hub for several subsea tie-backs that comprise the Greater Kittiwake area, making this transition a significant stage for regional North Sea operations.
More Than Twenty Years of Platform Experience
CB&I began serving as external operations manager in 2003 after pioneering this management model since the late 1990s. Since 2014, it has provided these services for EnQuest and previously worked with other asset operators. During this period, the company reports having contributed to improving operational performance and extending the facility’s service life through a strategy focused on mature asset optimization.
The company also highlights a safety record exceeding twenty years without accidents, a result it attributes to the stability of its offshore personnel and support from the technical team based in Aberdeen.
EnQuest Maintains Long-Term Collaboration
John Pearson, Director of Operations for CB&I Asset Solutions, noted that the contract extension reflects the trust developed between both companies and will enable completion of the Kittiwake field’s lifecycle from operation through decommissioning.
For his part, John Telford, Kittiwake Asset Manager at EnQuest, stated that the experience accumulated by the CB&I team and the collaborative work approach will continue to support safe, efficient, and responsible operations during the project’s final stage.
Asset Management to Extend Operational Value
With this contract, CB&I strengthens its position within the offshore operations outsourcing market. The company combines storage, operations, maintenance, asset management, wells, and decommissioning services with the objective of maximizing the economic performance of energy facilities throughout their entire lifecycle.
For EnQuest, the continuity of this model will enable it to address the closure of the Kittiwake field while maintaining the operational and safety standards that have characterized the project’s development in recent years.
