Aker Solutions announced the award of a significant contract to supply a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) substructure for an offshore wind project in Europe. The client responsible for the development was not identified, and the agreement strengthens the company’s presence in the renewable energy market.
Furthermore, the scope of the contract includes engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) activities, a model that integrates all main phases of industrial infrastructure development. The company will contribute its expertise in offshore solutions to execute a key installation within the wind farm’s electrical system.
HVDC infrastructure will enable the integration of generated energy
HVDC substructures play an essential role in large-capacity offshore wind farms. These installations enable electricity generated offshore to be transported to the onshore grid with lower energy losses, especially over long distances.
Likewise, this type of infrastructure is one of the most important components for accelerating the incorporation of new renewable capacity in Europe, where numerous offshore projects continue to advance to meet the growing demand for low-emission energy.
Offshore Wind Contract Boosts Aker Solutions’ Renewable Portfolio
Aker Solutions reported that it will register the contract as a new order during the second quarter of 2026 within the Renewables and Field Development segment. The company classifies this agreement as “substantial,” a category corresponding to contracts with an estimated value between 2.5 and 4 billion Norwegian kroner.
Although the exact amount and the client’s identity remain confidential, the magnitude of the contract reflects the growing European investment in offshore wind energy infrastructure and high-capacity electrical transmission systems.
Aker Solutions Strengthens its Participation in the Energy Transition
With a presence in 13 countries and approximately 11,700 employees, Aker Solutions develops integrated solutions for the energy industry, including low-emission oil and gas and renewable energy projects. The company combines engineering, digitalization, and project execution capabilities to support the development of more sustainable energy systems.
The incorporation of this new project consolidates its participation in the European offshore infrastructure market and strengthens its portfolio of solutions aimed at the expansion of offshore wind energy.
