Air Products announced the construction of a new air separation unit (ASU) in Cocoa, Florida, intended to produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon for various industrial sectors and the aerospace market .

The company, recognized as one of the world’s leading suppliers of industrial gases , will develop, own and operate this new facility, which is scheduled to become operational in the second half of 2028.

Furthermore, the Cocoa location was selected for its proximity to key aerospace hubs. According to Francesco Maione, President of Air Products for the Americas, Helium and Rare Gases, this plant will strengthen support for space launch providers in Florida.

About the air separation unit

The new ASU plant will be geared towards the production of liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon. These gases are essential in critical industrial processes.

Likewise, the supply will be directed to sectors such as metallurgy, manufacturing, the chemical industry and the medical field, expanding the availability of technical gases in the regional market.

Air Products has a long-standing presence in the state, where it has operated an air separation unit in Orlando for over 30 years. This infrastructure has contributed to local economic development by supplying industrial and medical gases.

With this new investment, the company seeks to strengthen its production and distribution network in the United States, where it already has approximately 70 ASU plants.

Boost to energy and aerospace infrastructure

The Cocoa facility represents a further step in Air Products’ expansion strategy in key markets. The growing demand for industrial gases in advanced applications, including the aerospace sector , is driving the development of this type of infrastructure.

In this context, the company continues to position itself as a relevant player in the supply of energy solutions and technical gases, aligned with the needs of industries with high technological demands.
