Initially, I am closely following the evolution of the energy industry in ultra-deep waters and seeing how the Brazilian landscape is becoming notably dynamic. The Brazilian division of ABL has formally assumed the role of marine warranty surveyor to provide direct support to Subsea7. This assignment comprehensively covers the logistical tasks of transporting and placing essential subsea components in a strategic region for crude oil extraction.
ABL’s technical scope in the Santos Basin
In this regard, I have verified that the operational work specifically covers the subsea flowline and riser systems destined for the floating units Marechal Duque de Caxias and Alexandre de Ganso. The maneuvers will be executed in complex marine environments with depths ranging between 1,850 and 2,100 meters. To ensure the technical success of the operations, the consultancy will review all engineering documentation, examine vessel suitability, and validate the environmental limits suitable for proceeding.
Previous experience and institutional backing
Furthermore, I am well acquainted with the firm’s track record in the area, and it is evident that its previous participation in the initial stages of this same field fully supports its current authority. The local team based in Rio de Janeiro will lead the offshore technical approvals, leveraging the experience gained from more than fourteen similar campaigns conducted since 2020. Likewise, the backing of the international consortium led by Petrobras along with partners such as Shell Brasil and TotalEnergies ensures rigorous supervision under the highest international sustainability standards.
