The work involves the use of motion capture suits and virtual reality headsets to guide Optimus’ movements and actions, requiring applicants to be between 5’7″ and 5’11” tall and have the ability to carry up to 30 pounds of equipment while walking for more than 7 hours a day.

The work will be performed in three shifts (8 am to 4:30 pm, 4 pm to 12:30 am and 12 am to 8:30 am) and the successful candidates will be responsible for collecting crucial data, assisting with engineering requests and generating detailed reports on team performance.

Tesla stresses that this role demands adaptability and the ability to make data-driven decisions in a “dynamic, fast-paced work environment.” In addition, availability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and weekends when needed, will be required. Experience using virtual reality equipment will be considered a plus.

Extra benefits and compensation

Beyond compensation, Tesla offers an exceptional benefits package that includes medical plans without payroll deduction, family-building benefits and wellness programs such as Tesla Babies. A 401(k) plan with employer contributions, company-paid insurance and paid holidays is also provided.

Tesla is also committed to diversity and equal opportunity in the workplace by providing an inclusive environment and reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities.

Tesla’s robot training program is not standing still, having hired more than 50 people in the last year. According to experts, such as Animesh Garg of Nvidia Research, the success of the Optimus robot depends on millions of hours of data collection, a considerable challenge that Tesla is determined to overcome.
