Velesto Energy Berhad announced it has won a new contract to supply its jack-up platform Velesto NAGA 6 to Northern Gulf Petroleum (NGP) in an operation located in the Gulf of Thailand.
The contract was awarded to Velesto Sumber Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the group, which will be responsible for providing the drilling unit and associated services during the execution of the campaign.
The addition of the NAGA 6 reinforces the use of the company's platform fleet in one of the most active offshore markets in Southeast Asia.
According to the terms of the agreement, the campaign will include the drilling of four infill wells and three exploration wells .
Infill wells are typically used to maximize resource recovery in already developed fields. Exploration wells , on the other hand, allow for the evaluation of new production opportunities and expand geological knowledge of areas of interest.
In this way, the project combines development objectives and resource assessment within the same offshore operation.
Northern Gulf Petroleum's decision to charter the Velesto NAGA 6 reflects the continuation of investments aimed at sustaining production and exploring new reserves in Thai waters.
In addition, activity in the Gulf of Thailand continues to attract contracts for jack-up platforms due to the characteristics of its fields and the need to maintain stable production levels.
This scenario favors companies specializing in drilling services that have equipment prepared to operate in complex marine environments.
During the announcement, Velesto's president, Megat Zariman Abdul Rahim, thanked NGP for their confidence and emphasized that the award supports the continued use of the company's self-elevating platforms.
The company also believes that the agreement will contribute positively to its financial results by increasing activity in its drilling segment.
Securing new projects also strengthens Velesto's commercial presence in markets where it operates and seeks to expand its contract portfolio.
While development and exploration programs continue in various countries in the region, the demand for jack-up platforms continues to present opportunities for offshore service providers.
In this context, the award obtained by Velesto confirms that energy operators maintain interest in advancing with campaigns aimed at both optimizing existing fields and identifying new resources.
With the participation of the Velesto NAGA 6 , the company adds a new project to its portfolio and consolidates its presence within the drilling activity in the Gulf of Thailand , one of the most relevant areas for hydrocarbon production in Southeast Asia.

Baker Hughes' NovaLT™ 16 gas turbine has received RINA type approval for marine propulsion applications. The technology is authorized to operate on natural gas and is ready to run on mixtures that can be up to 100% hydrogen. The announcement was made during Posidonia 2026 in Greece, one of the maritime industry's most important events.
Initially developed for industrial power generation, the NovaLT family stands out for its compact design, high efficiency, and adaptability to various fuels. Following a specific validation process for marine use, the turbine meets the installation and operating requirements for ships. Furthermore, it offers power outputs of between 12 and 17 MW in simple cycle and up to 22 MW in combined cycle, along with maintenance intervals of up to 35,000 hours.
Iberdrola was selected with eight projects in the first European auction to decarbonize industrial heat , developed by the European Commission's Innovation Fund. These initiatives will replace fossil fuels with renewable electricity in energy-intensive industries and will require approximately 240 GWh of clean energy annually.
The projects rely on direct electrification systems using electric boilers and will benefit sectors such as food and beverage, chemicals, manufacturing, mining, and tires. The company will receive approximately €50 million in aid and will deploy long-term power purchase agreements that will boost more than 150 MW of renewable capacity. Spain had the most projects selected in a call for proposals that distributed almost €400 million among ten European countries.
Cook Inlet LNG has unveiled a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import project aimed at bolstering the energy supply of south-central Alaska in anticipation of a gas shortage in the coming years. The initiative envisions using a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) connected to existing infrastructure in Cook Inlet to meet regional demand while longer-term supply alternatives are developed.
The plan will utilize existing facilities and pipelines in the area, reducing the need for new construction. The initial planned capacity will allow for the supply of approximately 22 billion cubic feet of gas per year. According to the developers, the first gas flow could begin in mid-2029, and the project will be financed with private capital. Furthermore, the LNG carriers will undergo regular refueling to ensure supply during peak demand periods.
JDR announced the opening of its new facility in Blyth , UK, an infrastructure that strengthens its manufacturing and technological development strategy for the marine energy sector. The plant will focus on the production of advanced cable systems for offshore wind farms, interconnectors, and power export lines for energy projects in various international markets.
The new facility will increase the company's production capacity and strengthen its specialized offshore infrastructure supply chain. It will also serve as a research and development center for new electrical cabling technologies, with the goal of manufacturing AC solutions with larger cross-sections and voltage levels up to 300 kV, meeting the needs of increasingly large and complex projects.
