Eni’s subsidiary has completed the rollout of its largest solar facility worldwide following the commissioning of the second 200-megawatt unit. The complex, located in the municipality of Solana de los Barros in the province of Badajoz, is now fully operational with a total capacity of 330 megawatts.

Consequently, the strategic layout of the 130-megawatt northern plant and the 200-megawatt southern plant optimizes the use of the surrounding land. As a result, the projected annual power generation will supply clean energy to thousands of households using state-of-the-art technology.

On the one hand, the construction work that began in February 2024 unearthed various archaeological remains dating back to the Copper Age. Consequently, efforts were coordinated with the Regional Government of Extremadura and the City Council of Badajoz to catalog, protect, and conduct scientific analysis of the remains discovered on the site.

The organization also entered into a five-year partnership with the Funpasos Foundation and the University of Extremadura. In fact, the agreement calls for ecological monitoring of the environment to assess the impact on local wildlife, soil, and plant biodiversity in the areas where work has been carried out.

Consolidation of renewable energy capacity in the Iberian market

The infrastructure is part of the energy company’s expansion strategy within the Iberian Peninsula. Currently, the company manages approximately 1.8 gigawatts of installed capacity across regions such as Andalusia, Murcia, Castile-La Mancha, and Catalonia.

Finally, the management of the clean energy division in Western Europe highlighted the strict adherence to construction deadlines, made possible by institutional support. The company plans to expand its integrated portfolio, which encompasses electricity supply, vehicle charging stations, and self-generation.
