Oscar Rojo, president of Seaboard Energías Renovables y Alimentos, in a meeting with the governor of the province of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, informed about the company’s upcoming expansion plans in the short term.
According to the government of Salta, the sugar-alcohol company informed that it will invest more than US$ 15 million to improve production processes at the El Tabacal sugar mill, where Seaboard produces sugar, hydrated alcohol, bioethanol, biomass energy and biofertilizers.
“We discussed our plans for growth and development at Seabord, not only related to renewable energies, but also to the chipping of our own wood, the reduction of our carbon footprint and the growth in sugarcane volume to have more bagasse with which to generate more electricity,” said Rojo at the end of the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the former Secretary of Mining and Energy of the province and head of the energy portfolio of the national government, Flavia Royón, who stated that Seaboard is one of the largest private employers in Salta, with more than 1,400 direct jobs and some 5,000 indirect jobs.
