On October 24, 2024, REM Offshore held the keel laying ceremony for the REM Pioneer vessel in Song Cam, Vietnam. This event marked a significant step in the construction of this pioneering vessel, designed for net-zero emissions offshore wind and subsea operations.

The REM Pioneer ship is the first of its kind
REM Pioneer will be delivered in 2026 as the first vessel of its kind to combine dual-fuel methanol engines with battery systems. This technology reduces energy consumption by 50% compared to similar vessels and meets future zero-emission standards. In addition, it will feature a 250-tonne electric crane that regenerates energy and a 1,400 m² working deck.
The vessel is also equipped to accommodate an offshore walkway, facilitating its use in offshore wind energy projects. With a capacity for 120 people, the REM Pioneer reflects REM Offshore’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation in the maritime sector .
The ceremony highlighted the cooperation between REM Offshore, Song Cam shipyard and its partners Myklebust and SBIC. This project underlines the importance of global collaboration in developing solutions for cleaner and more efficient maritime transport.
