The installation of the 255-km HVAC cable in Norway is progressing well. The project, led by NKT, aims to connect the Yggdrasil offshore oil and gas field to the Norwegian coast, ensuring a sustainable, low-emission energy supply.

The cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria successfully completed the first installation campaign in the Norwegian fjords and the North Sea, a crucial step in the development of this important project.

This 145 kV cable will provide a stable electrical connection between offshore platforms and onshore infrastructure, contributing to the region’s energy supply. Once completed, this system is expected to be one of the solutions for reducing emissions in the energy industry.

The installation’s progress is the result of close collaboration between Equinor , which participated in the design and production of the cables, and Aker BP , the main operator of the Yggdrasil development on the Norwegian continental shelf. Also participating in the project is Orlean Upstream Norway , which acts as a licensing partner.
