The first version was introduced in September 2022 under the name Bumblebee, which was later changed to Optimus . Recently, Musk has made another of his projections on the X platform, suggesting that the price of humanoid robots could be less than half the cost of a car . Given that the average price of Tesla cars is around $45,000, this would imply that Optimus robots could sell for around $20,000 , although he did not specify a date for this estimate.
