Evelyn Maersk bate récord de escala en APM Terminals

Measuring 398.9 meters in length and with a capacity of 15,500 TEUs, the Evelyn Maersk has performed a remarkable operation at the Levante Dock in Valencia. The maneuver was carried out using the most modern STS cranes on site, with a height under spreader of 54 meters. This call also marks the first time a Maersk E-Class vessel has entered these facilities.

Technical and operational stopover of the Evelyn Maersk in Barcelona

On its next stop on the MED2 service, the Evelyn Maersk docked at APM Terminals Barcelona, where it became the longest vessel operated at the port. Coinciding with its arrival, unloading work was carried out on three new high-capacity STS cranes, an RMG-type rail crane, and a straddle carrier linked to the port machinery electrification pilot program.

This double stopover of the Evelyn Maersk within the framework of the Gemini Cooperation demonstrates the high level of intermodal coordination at Spanish ports. Thanks to the close collaboration between APM Terminals, port authorities, and local logistics agents, operations ran smoothly and without incident.

Bet on infrastructure and innovation

The ship’s arrival highlights the sustained investments APM Terminals has been making to optimize its terminals. Both Valencia and Barcelona are making progress in implementing clean technology and process automation, consolidating their strategic role in the Mediterranean maritime transport network.

Julián Fernández, general manager of APM Terminals Spanish Gateways, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative work that made this historic operation possible and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable port development.
