BETA Technologies is introducing its first fully scaled-up electric aircraft built on a production line at its South Burlington, Vermont facility. This development positions BETA at the forefront of aeronautical innovation and the transition to sustainable technologies.
Alia CX300, the first industrially produced electric aircraft
The 200,000-square-foot facility began operations in October 2023 and can produce up to 300 electric aircraft per year. According to the company, it is the first large-scale electric aircraft factory in the United States. In less than a year, BETA managed to set up the plant with fully installed tooling, an organized supply chain, and assembled propulsion systems. The Alia CX300 model , the company’s flagship electric aircraft, has received the FAA experimental airworthiness certificate and has made its maiden flight.
The Alia CX300 aircraft is a conventional takeoff and landing ( CTOL ) version of BETA’s original model, the A250 VTOL , which can take off vertically like a helicopter. With over 22,000 flight hours logged, the CX300 has been designed to ensure safe and efficient performance, with full certification planned for 2025. The announcement of the production-line aircraft comes shortly after BETA announced raising $318 million in a Series C capital round.
“ This achievement validates our efforts toward commercializing electric aviation ,” said BETA Technologies Founder and CEO Kyle Clark, who piloted the aircraft on its inaugural flight. Clark added: “ We have worked with our partners to demonstrate the reliability of our aircraft and cargo systems across the country. Now, we are beginning to deliver products to our customers, with a shared vision for a cleaner future. ”.

The company continues to innovate in the field of electric aviation , integrating a focus on safety with the development of fast-charging systems that support the infrastructure of electric aircraft. With a facility capable of mass production, BETA is positioned as a major player on the path to the electrification of the skies.
