All American Marine (AAM) has signed a contract with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) to build an advanced 73-foot research vessel. This aluminum catamaran, designed by Teknicraft Design in New Zealand, will strengthen the university’s marine science research and education capabilities along the U.S. East Coast.
Characteristics of the research vessel
The vessel will be a multipurpose platform equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including aWASSP multibeam system and onboard laboratories, capable of oceanographic and biological studies.
With Scania Di16-082M engines reaching a speed of 21 knots, the vessel is designed to be efficient and safe in a variety of sea conditions.
