WH Scott Group, a company dedicated to engineering and technical testing, has completed the acquisition of Workplace Inspection Services Ltd. (WIS), which carries out engineering inspections to verify that machinery, equipment, and workplaces comply with health and safety regulations in the UK.

WIS will be integrated into Metlab, a business unit of the group specializing in inspections and testing. Metlab was founded in Ireland in 1982 and joined the group in 2023.

Why is this acquisition important?

The transaction represents WH Scott Group’s eighth acquisition and Metlab’s first expansion into Great Britain, where it previously operated only in Ireland. In addition, the acquisition expands the client portfolio, strengthens operational expertise, and enhances the group’s service offering in key areas such as industrial inspection and regulatory compliance.

WIS’s current customers will continue to receive the same high level of service, and will also gain access to additional services offered by the group.

Statements by management

This is also an important milestone in Metlab’s journey, and I believe the synergy between both companies will create new opportunities for growth, innovation, and improved service delivery for our customers.

Patrick Doyle, CEO of WH Scott Group.

I firmly believe that joining WH Scott Group is the right step for the company, our customers, and our employees. Their values, experience, and long-term vision fully align with ours, which gives me great confidence in the future.

Huw Davies, founder of Workplace Inspection Services Ltd.

Future outlook and opportunities

Looking ahead, WH Scott Group will focus its efforts on driving innovation and maintaining high quality standards across its services. In this context, the acquisition positions the group as a relevant player in the UK market for inspection, testing, and certification.
