Vallourec announced the awarding of a contract by Allseas to supply seamless carbon steel pipelines and thermal insulation systems intended for Atapu 2 offshore project in Brazil the development is part of the consortium Unitized ATAPU and is operated by Petrobras in the Santos basin.
The agreement includes the supply of 143 kilometers of rigid risers and flow lines, equivalent to approximately 19,000 tons of uncoated pipe. These components will form part of the subsea infrastructure that will connect the wells to the floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit planned for the project.
Local production for deep-water development
The Atapu siteIt is located approximately 230 kilometers off the coast of Rio de Janeiro and is developed at depths between 2,000 and 2,350 meters. The Atapu 2 system will include 18 producing wells directly connected to a FPSO using rigid risers, a solution widely used in highly complex offshore production projects.
The seamless pipes will be manufactured at Vallourec’s plant in Jeceaba, while the thermal insulation coating will be applied at Serra’s facilities. This industrial integration aims to optimize project logistics and provide a more efficient supply chain for deepwater operations.
Integrated capabilities for the offshore market
The company highlighted that the addition of thermal coating capabilities obtained after the acquisition of Thermotite do Brasil expands its range of solutions for energy projects with high technical demands.

The development of Atapu 2 is part of the production activity in the Brazilian pre-salt zone, one of the regions with the greatest potential for hydrocarbon extraction in ultra-deep waters in this context, the demand for seamless pipes, premium fittings, and insulation systems continues to grow to ensure the integrity and performance of subsea infrastructure.
Likewise, the contract strengthens Vallourec’s industrial presence in Brazil and reinforces its participation in strategic projects in the oil and gas market, where local manufacturing and specialized tubular solutions play a key role in meeting the technical and operational requirements of energy companies.
