Siemens Energy has reached an agreement to acquire Camlin Group, a company based in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, specializing in technologies for the monitoring, analysis, and digitalization of power grid assets.
The acquisition will expand Siemens Energy’s digital grid portfolio amid accelerated global investment in electrical infrastructure.
Financial details were not disclosed, and the transaction is subject to regulatory approvals, with closing expected before the end of 2026.
Camlin to Strengthen Digital Offering
Power grids face increasing pressure due to aging infrastructure, rising electrification, load volatility, and the accelerated integration of renewable energies.
In this scenario, operators require technologies capable of providing real-time information, predictive maintenance, and faster fault detection. With Camlin Group, Siemens Energy will expand its capabilities in sensor-based monitoring, data analytics, and software-driven grid intelligence.
The German company seeks to strengthen its offering to help customers transition from reactive maintenance models to data-driven and condition-based operations.
A Company with International Presence
Camlin Group employs approximately 650 people and operates in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia. The company reports revenues exceeding £90 million and has developed technological solutions for the energy and railway systems sectors.
Founded in 2010 by a group of engineers in Northern Ireland, Camlin expanded through engineering solutions focused on improving the reliability, safety, and performance of critical assets.
Its expertise in electrical asset monitoring and analysis will be incorporated into Siemens Energy’s global strategy for smart grids.
More Resilient and Predictive Grids
Tim Holt, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens Energy, noted that grid expansion and digitalization are becoming decisive factors for energy security, economic growth, and the energy transition.
The executive highlighted that Camlin Group is recognized for the quality of its products, its specialized personnel, and its advanced software portfolio. According to Siemens Energy, the integration will enable the provision of solutions for more predictive, flexible, and resilient operations.
The acquisition comes at a time when power grids must adapt to increased renewable flows, industrial electrification, new demand patterns, and stability requirements.
Camlin to Maintain Operational Continuity
Peter Cunningham, CEO of Camlin Group, stated that the alliance with Siemens Energy reflects a convergence of values, technology, and long-term vision.
The executive indicated that commercial operations will continue as normal and that Camlin’s management team will remain in place. In the long term, Siemens Energy’s scale, investment, and global reach will accelerate the development of solutions and expand their impact in the markets.
With this acquisition, Siemens Energy strengthens its position in the grid digitalization segment, a key area for increasing the reliability of electricity supply and supporting the global energy transition.
